6/6/20

On June 6th I had one of my good friends' weddings to document in Norway, Michigan.

Let's go back to circa 2015 when I had attempted to participate in a TRX class that Maddie was teaching. I say attempted because OH MY GOODNESS was it hard! After that TRX class I had asked her if she'd be willing to train me personally and she soon not only became my personal trainer, but one of my good friends. I was so sad when she had left Houghton back in 2017 (I think?). She was my outdoor buddy, my beer drinking buddy, one of my favorite people to spend time with and I couldn't imagine not hanging out with her on a weekly basis.

Now, let's fast forward to 2019 when I was down in Gwinn for the 4th of July, I had received a FaceTime call from Maddie showing off her ENGAGEMENT RING. WHAT?! I was so happy for her! Ben and Maddie had met at the gym they are both employed at. Ben and Maddie had come up to her family's camp here in Marquette with a few friends and he got down on one knee right on Lake Superior in front of her parent's camp.

On June 5th I drove to Norway, Michigan for Maddie and Ben's wedding. I pulled up to Maddie's parent's house and I was in love instantly with all the land that her parents own. She took me on a drive and we scouted out a few different locations for her and Ben's portraits. That's right, all the locations we went to were right on her road and pretty much in her backyard!
